Mother (earthbound 0) Flailthrough - Day 11 (in which old people are creepy.)

Let's see, when I last left off, I had to do a bunch of power leveling. Paula is now at a respectable level 10, and a bit less prone to death. That's good, as she has far, far less hit points than I did at that level, and does a bit less damage in physical combat than Jeff did. She is however equipped with attack PSI techniques, something that I found out only because I vaguely recognized the symbols for because it had been used on me many, many times in the past.

Romancing Saga 2, Day 7: I miss the cutesy Dragon Quest Mimics.

The mayor's manor is, of course, also swarming with monsters.

Leon takes a bad hit from that winged skeleton thing and I discover something: hitting R allows you to choose defend. (Luckily the Defend command comes up a lot in Super Robot Wars, so I know what it looks like.) He lives, but Therese goes down and takes a second hit while she is. Current LP: 5. Hoo boy.

Romancing Saga 2, Day 6: Uh-Oh.

We get back to town, and the guards are unconscious or dead.

Victor's face-down on the ground. Not good. He does the blinky-death thing I associate with 8- and 16-bit games, and we flash back to his showdown with a demonic swordsman.

Romancing Saga 2 day 5: Bastards and Dumbasses

There's some nasty stuff down here. The previous fight was half a dozen Gels, which allowed Gerarl to raise his Foom to Level 2. These skeleton things manage to drop Therese, current LP 7 and Leon, current LP 18. It's good to be the king. Steward. Chief. Guy in charge. Primary Dumbass. Whatever. Bear learns Parry though, which is probably all that prevented him from going down too. The next fight is just Gels, and Gerarl gets his Axe proficiency up to Lv. 2- the mace counts as an axe. Which is... why so many clerics double as lumberjacks? Hell if I know.

Romancing Saga 2, Day 4: Of Bees and Trees.

I take the party up the stairs in back, since I couldn't access those before. Looks like it's the royal chambers.

We have a nap in what I assume is Leon's bed, all five of us. That's an RPG convention that always bugged me as a kid, primarily for space reasons. Growing up has only made it weirder. I'm assuming that Leon isn't actually the king now, since his room is off to the side of the big one with the red carpet. I guess the real king is away? Or is this a Steward of Gondor kind of deal where Leon's family is watching the store for a few milennia while the actual kings are off living in the wilderness or some crap? I hope it's the latter, the opportunity to slide into madness and set myself on fire would be awesome.

Romancing Saga 2, Part III: HOW many years!?

Okay, so now we're Gerarl. At one point I find a store room and, after blundering through the menus I'm able to withdraw all the stuff, not that I can tell what it does. Then they kick me out of the castle and won't let me return. Don't know if that's good or bad, but let's load the game, huh?

Mother (earthbound 0) Flailthrough - Day 10 (don't let the Wookiee win.)

Alright... where was I? Oh! Right! I was looking for the next location. Thankfully I think I know where that is, because I've been sitting here since yesterday wondering what the missile I shot could possibly blow up. I remembered that on the way to the factory, there was a pile of rubble blocking off the train tracks... I can't remember if I mentioned it or not, but I probably forgot since I was functioning on caffeine alone, and my brain wasn't part of the writing of yesterday's post. Just ask AngeliqueDaemon, she'll tell you my brain almost never turns on when it doesn't have to, and many times when it should.

Speaking of which...
