Frivolous Friday: Another Pile of Unconnected Stuff Edition

Since I once again have nothing specific I wanted to bring up here, let's look at some noteworthy totally random crap that happened this week:

-Hasbro is producing a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive figure of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan-favorite Derpy Hooves. While Hasbro's ducking the issues some people have with the name by not putting it on the box*, they are providing a box with windows on both sides so you can keep Derpy in package and still see her trademark eyes. Clever!

-Among this month's Club Nintendo rewards, for 100 coins, is the 3DS Virtual Console version of Donkey Kong `94 for Game Boy. Excellent game, and some of Mario's moves here, like the backflip, would carry over to Super Mario 64. It was the flagship Super Game Boy-compatible title as well, and it looks really good on there should you have an SNES and SGB and the real cartridge. Of course if you have all those things, save your 100 coins. Also none of this is probably news to you. Oh well.

-This week over at figurereviews.com, I reviewed Grapple Blast Black Widow from the 4"-scale Avengers toyline. While it's my usual experience that The Girl in an assortment of mass-market action figures usually gets the least attention, Black Widow is inexplicably the best figure in the entire Avengers line. She's got articulation that most of the rest of the line doesn't bother with, more paint than many of the others, and a better likeness to Scarlett Johansson than the previous attempt at a Black Widow figure, which was wisely left unreleased. 

-The next portable Castlevania game is to be called Castlevania: Mirror of Fate. It's a spinoff related to the Lords of Shadow console game, and ties directly into that game's sequel. 3D Castlevania has now supplanted good Castlevania completely, and did so with a game that didn't even begin its development life as a Castlevania game. Save us, IGA!

*I personally don't believe that Derpy was meant to be disabled in any way, just dumb. My gut reaction is that if you object to Derpy, you have to object to Goofy. It's well understood that Goofy is just supposed to be an idiot... whose original name was Dippy Dawg. Goofy, Dippy, Derpy... it's the same concept separated by 80 years of evolving slang.

Ogre Battle Extra: One Good Lich Deserves Another.

Debonair leaves Norn's unit to make room for Fogel. The three Sky Knights are reunited! Meanwhile...

FLAIL is gifted with a Sentoul Demon here. You may remember that Borgnine the Mage will trade those for Undead Staves, which make Goetic/Mages into the next level up.

Remember Toad? Remember that thing he wanted to buy off of us? Well, here...

...is this guy. He gives us an Undead Ring. So yeah, Saradin's a Lich now- he's got the highest Intelligence in the game, so he should be even better than Warren in due time.

And this is Debonair's new unit. A pair of Doll Masters(Called Enchanters here) for the back row, and Black Knights for the front. Not high-aligned units, but effective ones.

Ogre Battle 68: Anime Ja Nai

Well, this is a surprise! I left Shaft in charge of guarding the shop town, and the enemy actually worked their way all the way around to there on foot. Shaft makes them regret it, despite being in drydock for what feels like years: he kills the unit leader and knocks the enemy off the side of the world. Satisfying!

Ogre Battle 67: Soft Re-Boot

The first enemies are appearing, and we have a problem. They're Levels 20-21. Paula's unit is levels 14-15, but at least she's got Freijas. But this may be quite the beating.

May be even more of a beating since they're ignoring her and heading more in Hannah's direction. Hannah's unit being a level lower than Paula's overall. Well, there's always Warren.

Ogre Battle 66: In Which We'd Kill All The Jedi If There Were Any

This week, we go to battle and hopefully recruit Fogel, last of the three Sky Knights! His domain is the floating island of Shiguld, which is Engrish for Sigurd. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigurd) (Just like I'm pretty sure Fogel should be Vogel, but not 100% sure on that one. But yeah, we're going to Sigurd.

Rockman 2 Part 8: Yes, We Cheated. No, I Don't Feel Bad.

Are there frustrating parts in Air Man, or Bubble Man? It is Rockman 2. There are frustrating parts everywhere.
